Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) enforce file-size limits on uploaded resumes. If your CV PDF is too large — common with designed resumes containing images, logos, or background graphics — the system may reject it silently or, worse, accept it and corrupt the formatting on the way in.

Common ATS file-size limits:

- Workday: 5 MB per file - Greenhouse: 5 MB per file - Taleo: 2 MB per file - Lever: 10 MB per file - Safe default: keep resumes under 2 MB

How to compress your CV/resume:

1. Drop your resume PDF above 2. Target is set to 2 MB — adjust as needed 3. The tool compresses while preserving readability 4. Download and upload to the job portal

Text and layout are preserved; only embedded images (photos, logos, background graphics) get compressed. For a text-heavy resume, the file often shrinks significantly with no visible change at all.

Portal file-size limits verified as of July 2025. Always double-check the official portal for current limits.

Questions people ask.

What is the typical ATS file size limit?
Most Applicant Tracking Systems accept 2–5 MB per file. Taleo is the strictest (2 MB). Workday and Greenhouse usually allow up to 5 MB. If in doubt, aim for under 2 MB.
Will compression affect my resume formatting?
No — text, fonts, and layout are preserved. Only embedded images are re-encoded. For a text-heavy resume, nothing visible changes.
Should I remove my photo to reduce file size?
In most English-speaking markets (US, UK, Canada, Australia), photos on resumes are not recommended anyway. Removing the photo both cuts file size and aligns with local hiring norms.
Is my resume data safe?
Yes. The resume is processed entirely in your browser — never uploaded. No data is collected, stored, or transmitted.
